Our Story

How it all started

Valhalla Sound Circus (VSC) is a cultural event where free expression and community combines with big bass and even better vibes. The product? A singular event with live musical performances, collaborative visual art installations, and the aim of unifying and strengthening the bass music community to create a truly magical experience.

Since it’s inception in 2012, Valhalla Sound Circus has been obsessed with synthesizing art, music, adventure, partying, and a dash of surprise, in new and unexpected ways. Tucked away inside the beautiful forests of Quebec, Valhalla is a space that allows you to reconnect with nature, friends, and decibel shattering sound systems.

Over the years, Valhalla has transformed from a simple festival to a pilgrimage.

What started off as an idea has blossomed into a spectacular collective of like-minded people with the sole purpose of sharing their love of music, moments, and magic. Months of planning and designing distilled into a singular moment of creative expression that is multisensory, immersive, and meaningful. The coming together of a community that has shown, year after year, that individuality is best celebrated together under the stars and on the dancefloor.

Valhalla is a moment: in time, or out of it. A space where the only thing out of the question is the ordinary.

You are invited! Shake off the everyday, and come back to where Valhalla is waiting for you.

Prepare, mighty Valhallian Warriors, to enter the sacred temple of the Thunderground.

Immersed in the rich tapestry of trees, surrounded by ancient and worthy warriors of Valhalla’s past, this colossal wooden fortress is home to the shrine where the Gods bang their hammers in celebration of festival, friendship, and fiery frequencies.

On your pilgrimage to the Thunderground, you will be guided by four immense glowing towers alongside the fortress. These towers, amplifying the static frequencies in the air, will send you signals of vibrant rays of light so powerful that they can be seen from kilometres away, with a booming PK Sound system that will send tremors through lands near and far.

The Thunderground is the heart of Valhalla, delivering non-stop drops of seismic proportions. This epicentre of energy is home to some of hypest artists in the bass music game and further offers various sorts of fire & dance performances you won’t want to miss. The legendary stories of the Thunderground will live on forever in those who experience its musical madness firsthand. Come and be a part of it.

Enter the glory of Thunderground, Quebec’s iconic altar of bass music worship

We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now

Warriors of Valhalla are no strangers to Sea life, whether it be in calm tides or crashing waves. But sometimes, even Warriors need to pull into port and ease into the party. The Drakkar offers a refreshing deluge of talent, performances, and lives acts. Day or night, shore up on the sandy lands of the Drakkar.

As Valhalla’s newest addition, the Drakkar has sailed back into the port for its third year. Crafted by the finest Valhallian carpenters, this man-made monument is completely constructed from trees and tree trunks, (and a whole lot of love), sourced locally from the bountiful forests of the Valhalla site. Built to last, the Drakkar can weather any storm. Equipped with renowned 40hz Sound, the Drakkar crashes through the waves with a massive sea of vibrations.

Keeping your finger on the buzzing pulse of the Hive is a challenging but rewarding task.

Hidden within the forest of Valhalla, this psychedelic sanctuary is home to diverse soundscapes and vibes, at once contrasting and complementing what’s going down at the Thunderground and the Drakkar. Complete with kaleidoscope foliage and multi colored ornaments, the Hive is a playground of multisensory experiences, kept cool by the trees and awesome people that surround it. If you’re looking to tune in and check out, escape down the rabbit hole to a 360 degree decorated magical forest, and reconnect with your body, your mind, and the bass.

Teeming with activity day and night, the Hive stage is a collaborative space where busy bees can dance to the beat or take a break, all the while enjoying each other and the futuristic fairy lights.

We at Valhalla Sound Circus strongly believe that the best way to truly experience a festival is to be a part of it, living every moment of this annual celebration side by side with fellow Valhallians who share the same love, support, and enthusiasm for Valhalla as you do.

This remarkable community was built over many suns and moons, and strengthens with every edition, reinforcing our shared commitment to family values such as mutual respect, acceptance, and unity. Everyone contributes to creating an environment where each other’s safety and well-being is a priority, while also enjoying the unique, fun, and friendly space that forms when we all come together to make some magic.

Sleeping under the stars, finding warmth in the wilderness, at Valhalla you can be many things, but you’ll never be alone.

Wild Camping

Wild camping is already included with the purchase of your VSC 2018 ticket, so there aren’t any extra charges for camping upon your arrival at Valhalla. Wild camping allows you to roam free within Valhalla’s limits and to set up camp in whichever environment you like: whether it’s amongst the masses of fellow warriors, tucked away inside the shaded tranquility of the forest, or somewhere in between, there’s never any shortage of space or adventure when it comes to wild camping!

Car Camping

Car camping allows you the convenience of having your vehicle on site beside your camp, giving you a safe place to store any valuables, or simply to power/recharge appliances. Camping with your car does have its benefits, but using it for transportation on, or around, the festival grounds is, sadly, not one of them. Once everyone is all settled in for the weekend, no one’s tent is moving, and neither is your car!

Car camping is NOT included in the price of your VSC 2018 ticket, this option will cost an additional 80$.

Car Camps are limited and will be allocated on a «first come, first serve» basis.

Let's have fun together.

  • Respect your neighbours
  • Clean & maintain your campsite everyday (don’t wait until the last day, garbage WILL attract animals!)
  • No open flames or fires are permitted
  • No excessively loud noises after midnight (ex: sound systems, horns, bells etc… The action is happening elsewhere anyways, let the sleepyheads sleep!)
  • Car engines must remain off at all times (only turn on to “battery” to recharge or power an appliance)

  • Please be considerate when setting up your campsite (don’t hog all the space, please leave some room for your neighbours to set up camp, be mindful of cords and tent pegs that may trip your fellow warriors at night)
  • Please be mindful of your tent size (you don’t need a 10 person tent if there’s only going to be 2 people in it)

Repeatedly breaking these rules may lead to expulsion from the festival, which works against our goal of fostering a community environment. Let’s work together to ensure a safe, clean, and fun Valhalla for all!
